You are not your anxiety
Detaching our identity from the thoughts that arise in our heads can make a difference in our mental health.
Here’s one way
Try giving your anxiety a name and separate it from yourself. (“Thanks, for airing your concerns, Priscilla, but I’ll take it from here.”)
When we stop reducing ourselves to our anxiety/fear/sadness, and see our thoughts and emotions like clouds in the sky or graffiti on the walls, we have space to act with compassion and curiosity towards ourselves.
