There's something about the physical

While I'm in this comics phase, I have tried reading both digital and physical comics.

And I have to say, holding a floppy (single issue) or a hardcover in my hands is a far, FAR more satisfying experience. This is not to say that reading digitally is necessarily a bad experience. For me, personally, seeing that 2-page spread unfold before you hits different in real life. The feel of the ink, the smell of the paper, the weight of the book...

This reminded me of something I read, that the number of people collecting tangible stuff is on the rise. Vinyl, plushies, collectible cards, physical books, stationery...you name it. I often hear how this move towards analog in many circles is a reaction to the always-on digital lives that we lead.

And maybe there is something in this. Something about the physical. That all the convenience and excess of the digital cannot overpower.
