The first day of the month

Beginnings (and endings), for whatever reason, mean something to us. The start of a new day, week, month, or year carries with it a certain poignance.

A breath of fresh air. A new page. A clean slate.

All of these ways to describe that hard-to-grasp spirit of possibility. For me, the beginning of a new month is an opportunity to try again and try better.

I started the year well in terms of being more intentional about my device use — not using my devices before bed and after waking. But as I started work, that part got harder. On many nights I’ve caught myself going down rabbit holes in bed. And after I wake up, the phone is back in my hand.

This October, I’m recommitting to a more intentional start to my day. How? I will stay away from screens for 30 mins (for a start) after waking. What’ll you be doing for your October?
