Reread and rewatch
It’s okay to enjoy stories just as entertainment.
But for anyone who wants to make good stories, it seems like you can only do so by learning how the stories that speak to you work.
That, you can only do, through rereading or rewatching to dissect the substance and style of these works. Then you are free to remix in a way unique to yourself.
When there are so many options, it might be hard to not move on to other exciting possibilities — but to make something worthwhile, you need to commit time and effort even (or especially) when it’s boring!
