Paying for anxiety
When I was looking into securing a visa to Bali, Indonesia I came across a slew of websites essentially yelling this:
You don't want to make a mistake, right? Imagine being turned away at immigration? Use us, pay 2x more and everything will be smooth
I did consider using one of these services because a part of me was worried that somehow the application would be messed up. It seemed like many people used them successfully, based on the reviews I saw.
But in the end I just went with the official website and got the eVisa instantly.
People will pay to remove or reduce anxiety. And by that same token, companies will amplify anxiety while claiming to offer the solution.
I'm not saying that it's foolish to use these services. Maybe you're strapped for time and can't do your homework. But what I am saying is, to be on the look out for those who try to prey on our fears and anxieties.
As we have always known, fears loom larger in our minds than in reality.
