Notes from Bali - Day 1
Being on a family trip to Bali and all, I thought I'd try something new till the end of the trip! I'll be sharing a mix of thoughts, observations, and things I've learnt here.
- It's fascinating how Bali has remained predominantly Hindu in a country that has the largest Muslim population in the world.
- The weather here can be mercurial and often not as bad as the forecasts indicate
- Hinduism in Bali has a very different flavour to the versions practised in India, what with all its unique features
- Candi bentar which adorn many an entrance are reminiscent of gopurams in Indian temples
- Pork is a delicacy and can be found pretty much everywhere, e.g. babi guling, on contrast to the rest of Indonesia and India even
