Is a McDonald's in the middle of nowhere...progress?
When I used to visit India in my younger days, I became used to the trials and tribulations of travelling by road. Amenities and facilities were few and far in between along the highways.
But on this trip, while on the highway out of Bangalore, I came across a McDonald's in a rather isolated stretch. It looked new and well-maintained. It was unlike the usual tea stalls, roadside vendors, and "hotels" (which is also used to refer to restaurants). I wondered who would come to eat there but I suppose there is some sort of demand.
Is this progress? I don't know. But a change for sure.
