I realised I'm...doing Blaugust?
I've been writing for a bit now — just shy of 2 months of daily posts.
I didn't really set that as a goal for myself...but once a streak built up, I felt compelled to keep going.
Besides, it helped me increase my creation-to-consumption ratio...which would otherwise skew heavily in favour of consumption.
As I was wandering around the BearBlogiverse, I kept coming across this odd term Blaugust (?) At first, I thought it was some way to describe some problematic aspect of August. (Something like how T.S. Eliot describes April as "the cruellest month").
It's only later, I realised that it's a challenge to write daily on one's blog! As it turns out...guess who's been writing daily?
ME!
I'm on Day 19, and I guess I might as well officially jump in as we head towards the finish line!
I'll close this post with some thoughts on what helps keep my writing going:
- Reading daily and paying attention to my self and surroundings
- The accountability from writing in public
- Allowing a post to be as short as it needs to be
- Trying not to hold myself to an impossible high standard
- Writing about whatever I'm interested in (and actually being interested in things!)
- Not being precious about how or when I write — on my phone, on the train, on my laptop, in the toilet...anywhere works
Say hi if you're doing Blaugust too!
