Go window shopping for ideas
I attended a talk where Dyson’s Head of Innovation Nicklaus Yu shared this insight: often innovation can be found in fields outside your present one.
Dyson, Yu shared, has been inspired by golf balls and jet engines (amongst many other things) in the design of their products. One of the most successful firms advocates for being alert to what’s outside of your sphere.
I wonder what it will mean for you and me, to look for insights beyond the places we’re comfortable or familiar with? In a sense it would mean spending time going window shopping!
Slow, seemingly purposeless but experimental and inquisitive.
