Dark clouds don’t (always) mean rain
When I was training for my 10K, I ran 3x a week. There were days where I didn’t feel like running and latched on to any excuse to procrastinate or delay.
Sometimes I would find the reason when I stuck my head outside the window. When I saw dark clouds, I was sure it would rain, so there was no point in running. Not my fault right? The weather wasn’t cooperating!
I mean, it makes sense, to think that if the sky is black and bruised, it should likely rain. But if you think about it, it’s not always the case.
At times, the wind could carry those rain-laden clouds away. At other times, the clouds only rain much, much later. So the weather remain fine, despite not seeming so.
If I make use of the window well, I get in a run before it rains. If I don’t, then well, I wait for the weather to clear up…if it does.
What’s this got to do with anything? I think it’s that many times, what we fear often doesn’t come to pass. Or it doesn’t end up as bad as our imagination makes it out to be. If we are so certain that things will go bad, we stop being open, creative and curious. And that’s a place where our inner child goes to die.
It rains, when it rains. But until then (or even then) the space for play is always there, should we choose to claim it.
