Can we look for delights?

I find that looking for delights is a lot easier. It’s a practice I learned from the poet Ross Gay, who wrote a series of essays about daily delights. To harness delights, just train your mind to look for tiny moments of wonder all around you. For example, my delights today (which were all just on my morning commute) included noticing a stranger’s funny-looking cat tote bag, seeing a dad pat down a flyaway wisp of his toddler’s hair with a smile, and glimpsing a person inside her car happily jamming out to a song I couldn’t hear way too early in the morning. All of these were just small things, but they help me remember that there is beauty and humor and things we share even when the world feels like a lot. And those delights are all around if we just take a moment to notice. – Laurie Santos

In a world steeped in conflict, the difficult but important work is to look for delights amidst all the pain.
