Be selectively exciting (and generally boring)
Contrary to popular opinion, the most creative people often are rather boring outside of their creative pursuits. In a way it makes sense, because then their creative energy is channelled towards making art.
This is something I took away from Gene Luen Yang's interview on Off Panel:
Yang; I, in my personal life, I definitely do not like change. Like, as an adult, I think I maybe only moved three times. I moved house three times and I hated every single experience. I know a lot of people like buying new cars. I don't like buying new cars. I don't like getting used to like a whole new driving experience, all that stuff.
Yang: But I think when it comes to comics, I like trying, I do like trying new things. I like trying, like I have a genre bucket list that I'm trying to go down.
