A non-drawer learns to draw: Week 3
It's a little past the end of Week 3, but better late than never.
Here are my sketches from 15 Feb to 21 Feb:
Practising basic shapes while having fun with them
Copying a scene from manga, which being black and white, feels less intimidating
I wanted to start trying out comic strips, so here's a LOTR one.
My first real attempt at a human illustration, copied from Sean Murphy's design. Was very nervous before starting!
From a print by Lew Kuan.
My sketch of Monet's Antibes after visiting an exhibition on Impressionism
My first attempt at using colour and using the full page. Many squiggly lines and symmetry is off.
This attempt went off the rails with terrible perspective.
A silly birding strip inspired by real life.
Just some squiggles for practice.
One thing I'm going to continue is looking for inspiration to imitate. Since one of my main aims in starting is to gain the confidence to create a mini-comic, I'm going to try a few more comic strips for my last week!
