A fresh start awaits
In her book How to Change: The Science of Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be Wharton professor Katy Milkman talks about the power of fresh starts. In her research, Milkman finds an increased tendency for people to set more goals at or near "beginnings": start of the year, month, or week, after birthdays and certain holidays. While this motivation may not be long-lived, it is a boost worth taking note of.
