3 more things I know to be true

A few weeks ago, I started my list of things I know about living a better life. 4-6 are today’s additions.

  1. I always relearn this lesson: 99% of the time my fears are worse in my mind than in reality.
  2. When I’m walking my dog, I just walk my dog — no phones, AirPods or other distractions. This helps me be alert and also be present in connecting with my furry friend.
  3. During conflicts, as hard as it can seem in the moment, I get to choose to be free rather than be right
  4. Learning to forgive is not only possible, but also essential for a good life
  5. I know I cannot change someone else, but when I change, I allow the possibility of positive shifts in the relationship (h/t Gretchen Rubin)
  6. I can have 100 valid reasons to resent someone, but holding onto them till they repent will only leave me waiting and bitter
